According to a new report by CEOWORLD, singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne has the second most popular Canadian Facebook page at 49.38 million fans.
Raised in nearby Napanee, the star is second only to Justin Bieber (77.21M) and almost 15 million ahead of Drake (35.29M) for April 2019.
This follows a report by a December report by Exclaim! listing her as one of the top 10 most talked about Canadian musicians in 2018. Lavigne was the top female on the list and sixth overall, ahead of Grimes (7th) and Celine Dion (10th) . Drake was number one on that list, followed by Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber.
Lavignes’s rankings are especially impressive when considering she took a 5 year hiatus after contracting Lyme disease. Previous to that, in 2011, she was named by Facebook as the Most Popular Canadian Musician in its own ratings that factored in the number of ‘likes’, profile growth, and their popularity in the media.
Avril Lavigne released her sixth album, Head Above Water, on February 15th and last month sang at the Special Olympics opening ceremony in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates with a host of middle east performers.
