The YMCA of Eastern Ontario is set to operate the City of Kingston’s Neighbourhood Parks Program for the 2024 summer season.

The program, which is free and open to children aged six to 12, will offer recreational activities at five local parks from July 2 to August 23, excluding the Civic Holiday on August 5. The program will run Mondays to Fridays.

“The Neighbourhood Parks program is a great opportunity for children to spend time outdoors this summer, exploring a variety of interesting activities and making new friends—it’s what summer is all about!” said Tony Gargaro, manager of Recreation Services at the City of Kingston. “We are grateful to the YMCA for their partnership in delivering this exciting program to children all over Kingston.”

The program will be a rotating schedule as follows:

The recreational programming may include active games, crafts, circle games, or use of equipment/supplies. This outdoor programming is weather dependent and will not run during inclement weather (e.g. rain, thunder, lightning, heat or smog/smoke warnings).

“We welcome the opportunity to further strengthen our partnership with the City of Kingston by running the Neighbourhood Parks Program. This is a terrific program for city residents and is a natural complement to our existing youth programs,” said Rob Adams, CEO, YMCA of Eastern Ontario. “The Y’s experience runs deep with programs for youth from our academic suspension programs to youth recreation and summer camps to childcare. We are looking forward to providing fun activities for kids across the city!”
