Kingston Participating in Disabilities Mentoring Day

The City of Kingston will be participating in Disabilities Mentoring Day today, October 25, by welcoming seven mentees to City offices.

The job-ready persons with disabilities who previously enrolled in the program will gain municipal government operations work experience while working staff for the day. The mentees’ skill sets have been matched to the type of work that they will be performing. The mentors and mentees were matched up by the founders of this annual event, Dolphin Digital Technologies.

This is the second year the city is participating.

According to a City release, mentees will work alongside City staff in the information systems and technology department, transportation services, human resources and organizational development services, facilities management and construction services, engineering and recreation and leisure services.

“I am looking forward to being a part of Disabilities Mentoring Day,” said David Mignault, manager of organizational development. “It’s a great opportunity to share my passion for the work I do and connect with a mentee looking to gain employment,”

A number of other municipalities across the country are similarly marking Disability Mentoring Day, including: London, Waterloo Region, Niagara Region, Hamilton, Brantford, Toronto, Sudbury, Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver.
