The Instagram photo app, after a long wait, is now available to Android smartphone users beginning this week.
With almost 30 million Apple iphone and iPad users, the much anticipated Android version of the photo app is now available to smartphones running version 2.2 (or later) of its operating system.
With Instagram, owners can take pictures and apply over 17 preinstalled filter effects before sharing them with other Instagram members as well as on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr.
Soon after being launched on Apple’s iOS, it was crowned “iPhone app of the year” in 2011 by Apple and Instagram claims members now exchange 5 million photos every day – a number that is sure to grow with the arrival of this new Android version.
