HonkMobile App Now Available for Accessible, On-Street Parking

RELEASE — The City of Kingston has announced it will continue its partnership with HonkMobile in offering a new way to pay for downtown on-street accessible parking spaces. Motorists parking in those spots can now use the HonkMobile app to search, pay for and top up parking from their phone, tablet or computer.

There are now over 50 on-street accessible spaces available for payment using HonkMobile and the City has expanded the app payment method to designated parking for patients of the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario. Kingston is one of more than 15 communities across Canada to use Honk as an additional way to pay for parking.

“The ability to pay without having to physically leave your vehicle is a huge improvement for those parking in accessible spaces and goes well beyond convenience. Accessible parking users will still be able to pay at meters, if they prefer. This is just another payment option we’re pleased to offer,” said Ian Semple, Director, Transportation Services.

In addition to also being available to use at surface lots downtown, HonkMobile will also be expanding to remaining hourly lots later in the year.

Instruction to use HonkMobile:

1. Download the HonkMobile app from HonkMobile.com or your app store.
2. Set up an account, adding as many vehicles and payment sources to your account as you want – the app accepts PayPal, VISA, debit, ApplePay and Masterpass digital wallet. HonkMobile also allows you to view all your parking receipts.

Parking Enforcement Officers see a real-time list of licence plates that have paid parking with HonkMobile so there is no need to display a paper receipt.

More information about HonkMobile can be found on the City’s Honk App page and additional details about Kingston parking options are at CityofKingston.ca/Parking.
