Utilities Kingston’s water and electricity outage map is a reliable way to find out about planned outages – and now recent enhancements will make it a resource for customers experiencing emergency outages.
“We strive to continually improve outage communications so that disruption to our customers is minimized,” says Brad Joyce, director of energy operations for Utilities Kingston. “The public can refer to the outage map as a reliable source of information during water and electricity outages in our service areas.”
Utilities Kingston water and electricity customers experiencing an outage can go to UtilitiesKingston.com/Outages to see if information is up on the map. The utility’s goal is to provide accurate, timely details so it shows the latest available information on both planned and unplanned outage.
If no information has been posted, customers should report their utility emergency 24/7 to 613-546-1181.
The map will be updated by a control centre operator as quickly and accurately as possible after crews have been dispatched. It will then be updated on the map throughout the course of the outage.
Utilities Kingston’s control centre is staffed during daytime hours on week days. After-hours support is called in as needed – so map updates may take longer on evenings and weekends (and, in some cases, won’t be possible).
Utilities Kingston has long offered updates on unplanned outages on its Twitter feed, which will continue to be updated in conjunction with the enhanced map.
