Girls Soccer Team in the running for National Recognition

In June the Cataraqui Clippers U12 Girls Soccer Team was recognized as the BMO Team of the Week. Now the team is one of 15 across the country in the running to be the 2013 BMO Team of the Week Champion.

The team is calling on the Kingston community to support them by going online from August 5 to 19 to vote for them.

“When I met the team in June I was really impressed with their drive to help others, so far they have raised over $6,000 for Camp Trillium and the Children’s Cancer Fund at Kingston General Hospital,” said Mayor Mark Gerretsen. “As Kingstonians we can all be proud of this team and I hope our community will get behind these girls and support them by going online to vote.”

The local team was recognized for their outstanding team spirit and commitment to the local community. They have been raising money to support children living with and beyond cancer, a cause close to the girls who became a support system for a teammate as her younger sister battled leukemia.
