Members of the United Steelworkers Local 2010 bargaining unit have ratified a first collective agreement, with a majority of employees voting to accept the contract offer. The university has also, on the recommendation of its bargaining committee, ratified the agreement.
The two sides reached a tentative agreement July 5.
“Everyone involved in this process has worked diligently towards the common goal of reaching an agreement that is acceptable to both parties,” says Caroline Davis, Vice-Principal (Finance & Administration). “I’m pleased that both the university and bargaining unit members have ratified the agreement.”
Bargaining unit members participated in ratification voting on August 1, 2 and 7. Just over 90 per cent of the 697 people who voted accepted the agreement.
USW Local 2010 represents approximately 1,100 employees of Queen’s University, General Support Staff (Grades 2-9).
The agreement is posted on the Human Resources website.
