“We are excited to resume walking tours of Ontario Street South. Having a guided tour from one of our museum staff is something special and Ontario Street has an exciting history to share,” says Kevin Gibbs, Manager, Heritage Programming.
“Brewers, Bakers & Boilermakers: Walking Tour of Ontario Street South” is based on the popular 2019 exhibition of the same name. This 60-minute guided walking tour delves into the amazing history of Ontario Street, a space that helped define and form Kingston as a city. During this small-group tour, guests will hear exciting stories about intriguing people, massive fires, harrowing explosions, past and present businesses, public transportation, archaeologic discoveries, everyday vices and much more.
Participants will travel from the PumpHouse to City Hall along Ontario Street and the waterfront. Tours cost $5 (plus HST) per person and are offered Thursday to Saturday, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets can be bought at the PumpHouse but space is limited so participants are encouraged to purchase tickets prior to arrival.
