Strategy will shape the future of housing in Kingston and Frontenac County

KINGSTON, ONT. / Nov. 1, 2010 – The public is again invited to two upcoming consultations on a Municipal Housing Strategy being developed by the City of Kingston and County of Frontenac to help guide future housing initiatives, policies and programs.  Both meetings are set for Thursday, Nov. 18:

– 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Oso Community Hall, 1107 Garrett St., Sharbot Lake

– 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour (Sail Room), 53 Yonge St., Kingston

The first phase of public consultation was held at the beginning of October and gathered community perspectives on housing needs and issues. This second phase of the public consultation invites the urban and rural communities to share in findings from the first public sessions (see www.cityofkingston.ca/housingstrategy) and to discuss options and opportunities to address the housing challenges facing residents of Kingston and the broader County.  Based on this input, the Municipal Housing Strategy will be constructed to address the identified needs within a strategic, community-based framework, especially in the area of affordable housing.

SHS Consulting, in association with Re/fact Consulting, will again be leading the two public sessions.

Those interested in attending should contact Hollis Amey at hamey@cityofkingston.ca or 613-546-2695, ext. 4973 by Monday, Nov. 15.

Plan to get to the Kingston meeting by bus: ‘Get Directions’ through the transit icon at maps.google.ca or go to www.cityofkingston.ca/tripplanner
