City of Kingston Seeks Your Photos for New Website

Published on: 2012/03/19 - in Releases

The City of Kingston wants you to “Show us YOUR Kingston” in photographs that can be used on its new website.

“We want the redesigned website to visually celebrate Kingston — our community-minded residents, our innovative businesses, our rural areas and lovely neighbourhoods as well as our historic and waterfront vistas,” says David Johnston, Chief Information Officer. “We live in one of the best cities in the world. Our website should reflect that.”

Submit and share your photos of Kingston — past and present, day and night, spring, summer, fall and winter — at www.CityofKingston.ca/new-website. The deadline for submission is April 20.

The City is looking for photos submissions in the following categories:

  • Seasons
  • People at Play
  • People at Work
  • Cultural Kingston
  • Landscapes
  • Buildings & Architecture
  • Rural Kingston
  • The Spirit of Kingston
  • Kingston Past

VOTE FOR A CATEGORY FAVOURITE EACH MONTH

Following the collection of the photographs, five chosen photos in a featured category will be posted to the City of Kingston website each month. Then residents will vote for their favourite shot. The vote-winning “This is YOUR Kingston” photos will be featured monthly on the City of Kingston’s current website — and on the new site once it is completed by the end of this year.

“It’s going to take a while to reconfigure and move information to the new website. These pictures will help us build excitement for the new site while we are under construction,” says Johnston.

Credit recognition will be given to individuals whose photos are used on the city website. Those submitting will be required to agree to give the City permission to use the photographs. The permission of all those pictured in the photos is also required ahead of submission.
