Local digital education company Mimetics will be hosting a robotics event for Kingston youth and their guardians on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 6pm at the Innovate Kingston Town Hall in Portsmouth Village.

Mimetics will be profiling their Jade Robot: an educational tool used by school boards throughout Ontario to engage students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Mimetics has also worked with NASA and The Discovery Channel.

“We’re excited to be in Kingston and to share our love for STEM with kids, their friends and family,” said Myke Predko, Mimetics’ President and Chief Roboticist. Mr. Predko is an award-winning Engineering Manager with over 25 years experience in designing and developing hardware and software products. He is an educational author with more than 15 books published on a variety of electronics and robotics themes.

The Jade Robot is a durable, versatile, and creative robot made in Canada. It includes Bluetooth tooth technology for wireless programming, a spectrometer for gauging chemical composition of surfaces, and sensors for driving by light. It’s fun for all ages.

After using the Jade Robot, young girls are 10X more likely to enroll in advanced science and mathematics.

“We’re grateful for this opportunity to introduce Mimetics’ products and programs to Kingston. We encourage people to visit our website and follow us on social media @MimeticsCanada. The conversation about robotics is just beginning in this city,” said Mr. Predko.
