Kingston Fire & Rescue’s Combat Challenge Team is holding a car wash to raise funds for the Combat Team and P.R.O. Kids at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday July 28, 2012 at the Kingston Centre parking lot, at the corner of Bath Road and Sir John A. MacDonald Boulevard.

This year, Combat Challenge Team T-shirts will be sold at the car wash for $15. The funds raised will help the team get to the Scott Firefit Canadian National Championships being held in Baie Comeau, Quebec, August 30 to September 2. A portion of the proceeds will go to P.R.O. Kids.

Billed as “The Toughest Two Minutes in Sports,” the Scott Firefit Championship’s obstacle course tests the strength, speed and agility of firefighters who are required to complete a series of fire-fighting-related tasks in full gear.

P.R.O. Kids is the City’s charity that offers financial support to help Kingston kids participate in recreational activities.

A number of Kingston’s Combat Challenge team earned their right to attend the National competition at the recent Eastern Ontario Regional event in Chalk River, Ontario.

In the relay events, Morgan Carey and Don Newton took first in the mixed tandem NXG race and multiple new personal best times were achieved. The Kingston team includes: Matt Preston, Brock Jamieson, Derek Beattie, Jesse Lemmon, Morgan Carey, Justin Clarke and Don Newton.
