RELEASE — Subscription packages of four shows or more will be on sale for the City’s Grand OnStage 2024-2025 season starting May 28 at noon. This will be the 17th season of exhilarating, culturally enriching and entertaining performances from across Canada and around the world, ranging from dance to theatre, comedy to circus, family programs to theatre for young audiences and music spanning multiple genres, all presented by the City of Kingston.
The season kicks off on Oct. 3 with a special “Songs & Stories” performance by the legendary Tom Cochrane, and then over the next eight months until May 2025, will bring the Kingston Grand Theatre stages to life through presentations of diverse performing arts programming. Many Grand OnStage performances are accompanied by community engagement opportunities through pre-show “In Conversations” and post-show “Talkbacks,” often led by local performing artists, as well as masterclasses, workshops and artist residencies. The City’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility is also reflected in the Grand OnStage season and the artists and shows presented, as well as in the various discount ticket offerings available.
“Our commitment to presenting diverse and inspiring artists certainly continues in 2024-25 with productions such as Bageshree Vaze’s Global Bollywood; the African American dance company Step Afrika!; Taiko drumming ensemble Nagata Shachu; Inuk artist Susan Aglukark; South Africa’s Ladysmith Black Mambazo; and bagpipe supergroup The Red Hot Chilli Pipers from Scotland supported by Walter Fenlon and Linda Ann Daly, to name only a few,” says Jayson Duggan, Performing Arts Manager, Arts & Culture Services, the City of Kingston.
