RELEASE — Without financial literacy skills in place, women approaching retirement might find that their savings and planning have not been enough to live comfortably. Even if retirement seems like it’s far off, now is the time for women to think about the future, as women tend toward more financial vulnerability, living longer and typically retiring with fewer funds.
As part of the KFPL Live series, Financial Literacy for Women, Laura Southall, Senior Wealth Advisor at Assante Financial Management Ltd. is helping women in Kingston Frontenac understand what they need to retire, and which income streams make it possible.
“When retirement seems a long way off we may tend to ignore it, but as it creeps closer many of us may panic and worry that we’ll never have enough put away to retire in comfort,” said Anne Hall, Programming and Outreach Librarian. “When we finally sit down to face it in an organized way, it can be much less scary.”
An online, interactive seminar, Financial Literacy for Women: Getting Ready to Retire happens from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5. Register online or by phone at (613) 549-8888. Participants will need Zoom on their devices.
This the second of four presentations, the next being Saving Taxes in Retirement on November 2. For more information about this event, visit www.kfpl.ca or call your local branch.
