Mary and Her Kids Celebrate Christmas Every Year, But Last Year They Cancelled It

Published on: 2019/11/21 - in Releases

A message from Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington:

Last year, Mary couldn’t give her kids Christmas. She’s a young single mother with four kids, aged 3 to 12. When the kids were younger and times were better, they observed Christmas every year. But last year everything changed, and the family experienced some very hard times.

She works full-time but she couldn’t keep food on the table or gas in her car. It meant that she had to cancel Christmas. This year, she’s asking the Tree of Hope for help, including toys, personal items, clothing, bedding and more for her kids. She’s also asking for help for her family something to do together, like a dinner and a movie.

The Tree of Hope will do everything it can to give her family the Christmas they want this year. Just like how we support all the kids we serve through the Tree of Hope regardless of how they celebrate the holidays or what they believe in.

[Note: Family and Children’s Services takes privacy very seriously. The mother’s name was changed in this release and in the accompanying video, which features stock images.]

This is just one of the stories we see with the Tree of Hope, our annual holiday appeal. For more than a hundred years in KFLA we’ve been helping kids during the holiday season with toys, clothing, personal and household items, baby gear and more. 900 kids will be counting on us this year. Can we count on you?
