See the Conceptual Plans for the Confederation Basin Promenade

RELEASE — On Thursday, Oct. 14, join City staff and a specialized consulting team as the conceptual designs for the Confederation Basin Promenade project are unveiled at on online engagement session.

The conceptual designs reflect resident feedback collected during the first step of public engagement in July and August. Waterfront views, water’s edge access, connected pathways and accessibility were among the top themes and values identified during engagement and can be seen in the artist rendering of the Confederation Basin Promenade project.

  • Register to attend the online engagement session from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14. If you wish to follow along but don’t expect to ask questions you can do so on the City’s YouTube channel where the meeting will be closed-captioned and live-streamed.
  • See the conceptual design panels on display in Battery Park or on the Confederation Basin Promenade project page.
  • Go to Get Involved Kingston to complete an online survey from Oct. 14 to Nov. 4 to offer input on the conceptual drawings.
  • Request a paper copy of the survey by calling 613-546-0000. We will provide you a postage-paid envelope to return the survey to City Hall.
  • Complete the survey over the phone with City staff by calling 613-546-0000.

Ranked #5 in the Waterfront Master Plan, the Confederation Basin Promenade is proposed to be a new accessible walkway and public space experience built on the existing stone breakwall that shelters Flora MacDonald Confederation Basin.

The Waterfront Master Plan (WFMP) process conceptualized and consulted on the promenade project and a high-level scope of work was established and approved by Council in 2016. The promenade project is estimated to cost $2.695M. Project enhancements not included in the current approved budget may be considered subject to the ability to secure diverse sources of funding and Council approval.
