RELEASE — Additional City services, facilities and amenities will be reopening as part of the move to Step 2 of the Province of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen, effective Wednesday, June 30 at 12:01 a.m.

The focus of Step 2 is on the resumption of more outdoor activities and limited indoor services with small numbers of people where face coverings are worn, with other restrictions in place. Effective this Wednesday, June 30, up to 25 people will be allowed to gather outdoors, including those not from your household. This includes in City parks, outdoor public spaces, picnic tables, and the bistro tables and chairs in Springer Market Square. The maximum for indoor gatherings is limited to up to five people. On June 22, Council also approved temporary arts and culture noise exemptions, where deemed appropriate, to support the recovery of the arts and culture sectors as the reopening progresses.

Also effective as of June 30, sports fields will be permitted for team play; permits are required and will be coordinated with partner and adult groups. Aquafit numbers will increase to 15 individuals per class, with physical distancing of 2 metres in place, while outdoor fitness classes will begin with pre-registration available at www.CityofKingston.ca/PLAY. Indoor facilities will remain closed except for high-performance athletes and day camps.
