New Session: “Learning Through Exploration – The Child as a Scientist”

RELEASE — How do children learn about the world? Does playing lead to learning? What do we mean when we say that children are ‘little scientists?’ Join Brooke Hilton, MSc., Queen’s Psychology Department for the second talk in the Growing Up Human series for the answers to these questions and more.

During the online talk Feb. 22 at 7 p.m., Hilton will discuss how children shape their own learning with a focus on play and exploration.

“It’s fascinating to think about the link between play and learning. It’s great that there’s so much research going into this subject because the two aren’t mutually exclusive,” said Jake Miller, Adult
Programming Librarian. “A session like this will help illustrate this connection that is so crucial for childhood development.”

The monthly Growing Up Human series is of special interest to parents and caregivers and is presented by the faculty and students of the Queen’s University department of psychology.
