RELEASE — Brett O’Neil of Battersea is celebrating after winning a $50,000 top prize with INSTANT CROSSWORD (Game #3235).
Brett, an 18-year-old gas technician, said he’s been playing the lottery since he turned 18. “I like playing INSTANT tickets,” he shared, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “I think they’re a fun way to pass the time, and one day I got lucky.”
It was late at night when Brett came across a ticket he’d purchased and decided to play it. “I validated my ticket at the store and the machine shut down,” he recounted. “I had to check it about 10 times!”
Many of Brett’s friends and family members found out about his win. “They couldn’t believe it. My mom says I’m a local celebrity!” he laughed.
With his windfall, Brett looks forward to fixing up his boat. “I think I’ll save the majority of this win,” he added. “That way, it will be there if I need it.”
For Brett, winning has been an exciting experience. “It’s pretty cool. This is a feeling I’ve never felt before – that’s for sure!”
INSTANT CROSSWORD is available for $3 a play and the top prize is $50,000. Odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.91.
OLG supports safe play and wants to keep the fun in the game. That’s why OLG is proud to be a leader in promoting responsible gambling with our globally recognized PlaySmart program.
The winning ticket was purchased at Orsmbee’s Mercantile on Battersea Road in Inverary.
