Kingston Police posted the following report earlier today. The driver of a red SUV may have witnessed the incident and is asked to contact police.

A 21-year-old local woman was charged after a road rage incident ended in a violent crash.

On March 23, 2017 at approximately 12:30 a.m. the accused was at a coffee shop on Princess Street near Centennial Drive. The accused had an argument with a woman known to her and when the woman left, the accused followed her southbound on Centennial Drive. The accused was believed to be following too close and both vehicles were believed to be traveling well above the speed limit.

When the woman braked the accused attempted to swerve around her, but lost control and slid sideways for approximately 50 meters. The accused vehicle went into a ditch at Waterloo Drive and struck a pedestrian light pole. The accused’s vehicle then went airborne across Waterloo Drive up into a driveway where it struck the garage of a residence on Waterloo Drive, causing significant damage.

The accused was taken to the hospital by ambulance for minor injuries.

The accused was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Careless Driving and on conviction is liable to a fine of not less than $400 and not more than $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both, and in addition her licence or permit may be suspended for as long as two years.

A red SUV was seen in the area and the driver may be a witness.
