Following is a list of road construction projects and events provided by the City of Kingston that are expected to have an impact on traffic flow next week:

Ministry of Transportation
Pavement rehabilitations will take place along Hwy 401 between Westbrook Road to beyond the Hwy 15 Overpass, and on the Sir John A Macdonald Overpass. This work will consist of various lane and ramp closures over the next several months.
Hwy 401 Eastbound at Hwy 15 – Full Mainline Closure:
- Sept. 29 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Sept. 30 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Oct. 1 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Oct. 2 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Oct. 3 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Gardiners Rd, Sydenham Rd, Sir John A Macdonald Blvd, Division St, Montreal St- Various Ramp Closures:
- Sept. 30 from 12 p.m. to 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Oct. 1 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Oct. 2 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Oct. 3 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
LaSalle Causeway
Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) announced the bridge is scheduled to reopen to pedestrians, cyclists and motorists in the early evening of Thursday, Oct. 3.
Road Closures
- Albert Street – Princess to 486 Albert – closed until Dec. 31 to accommodate construction activity and staging at 484 Albert St.
- Brock Street – King to Wellington – closed Sept. 29 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Brock Street Block Party.
- Couper Street – Albert to Collingwood – closed for sewer separation and road rehabilitation work. For project details please visit Get Involved Kingston.
- Emily Street – King to End of Emily – closed Oct. 3 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. for Murdoch Mysteries Filming.
- Hillcrest Ave – Kingscourt to Seventh – closed until Oct. 31 for buried infrastructure replacement. Road will be open to local traffic.
- King Street – Earl to William – closed Oct. 4 from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for Murdoch Mysteries Filming.
- Kingscourt Avenue – Hillcrest to Kirkpatrick – closed until Nov. 15 to accommodate a watermain replacement.
- King Street – Gore to Lower Union – closed Sept. 23 to Oct. 4 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day to repair a water service.
- Market Street – King to Ontario – closed Sept. 29 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the Queen’s University Midnight Car Club – Exotic Car Show.
- Market Street – King to Ontario – closed Oct. 1 at 8 a.m. to Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. for Murdoch Mysteries Filming.
- Ontario Street – Brock to Clarence – closed Sept. 29 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the Queen’s University Midnight Car Club – Exotic Car Show.
- Ontario Street – Brock to Clarence – closed Oct. 1 at 8 a.m. to Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. for Murdoch Mysteries Filming.
- Sydenham Street – Princess to Queen – closed until Oct. 1 for Downtown Kingston BIA Activations.
- Sydenham Street – Earl to William – closed Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Murdoch Mysteries Filming.

- University Avenue – Union to Earl – closed for construction related activity at the Queen’s John Deutsch University Centre project.
Parking Disruption
The Hanson Memorial Parking Structure Restoration project is now underway. The work will take place throughout all levels of the building, and will include efforts such as routine structural maintenance, repainting, replacement of waterproofing materials, and upgrades to the building mechanical/electrical systems. The work is planned to begin the first week of February 2024 and conclude in late December 2024.
The work will be completed in phases to allow the building to remain open to public parking for the duration of the project. It is anticipated that no more than 50% of the available 271 parking spaces will be closed at any time. There is also parking availability at the Chown Memorial and Robert Bruce Memorial parking garages in the two adjacent blocks to the west.
Ontario-Brock Lot – will have a full closure in the morning of Oct. 2 that will extend through into the evening of Oct. 5.
Richardson South Beach Lot – full closure beginning Sept. 30 that will extend through to the evening Oct. 3.
Richardson Beach North Lot – partial closure affecting access to Emily St. as well as a portion of the lot that will be closed from Sept. 30 through to the evening of Oct. 3.
In addition to the lot closures, multiple on-street parking disruptions will occur through the downtown core out as far as West Street beginning Sept. 30 through Oct. 5.
Other Delays
- Aberdeen Street – Johnson to Earl – expect delays and closures along Aberdeen Street for a contractor to complete road and sewer reconstruction. For project details please visit Get Involved Kingston.
