Following is a list of road construction projects and events provided by the City of Kingston that are expected to have an impact on traffic flow next week:

Ministry of Transportation
Pavement rehabilitations will take place along Hwy 401 between Westbrook Road to beyond the Hwy 15 Overpass, and on the Sir John A Macdonald Overpass. This work will consist of various lane and ramp closures over the next several months.
Hwy 401 Westbound – At Sydenham Rd Off-Ramp – expect a lane and ramp closure during the following dates and times:
- July 21 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- July 22 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- July 23 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- July 24 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- July 25 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Hwy 401 Westbound – at Hwy 15 – expect a full mainline closure July 23 at 7 p.m. to July 24 at 6 a.m.
Hwy 401 Eastbound – at Hwy 15 – expect a full mainline closure July 25 at 9 p.m. to July 26 at 6 a.m.
LaSalle Causeway
Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise users that the LaSalle Causeway will be fully closed to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians until further notice.
Road Closures
- Albert Street – Princess to 486 Albert – closed until Dec. 31 to accommodate construction activity and staging at 484 Albert St.
- Hillcrest Ave – Kingscourt to Seventh – closed until Sept. 1 for buried infrastructure replacement. Road will be open to local traffic.
- King Street – Place D’Armes to North End of King – closed until Sept. 30 for the construction of new storm and road bed. Road will be open to local traffic.
- Market Street – King to Ontario – closed July 21 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Annual Pull Together for Epilepsy Fire Truck Pull.
- Market Street – King to Ontario – closed July 26 from 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. for Rockin’ the Square.
- Ontario Street – Brock to Clarence – closed July 21 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Annual Pull Together for Epilepsy Fire Truck Pull.
- Princess Street – Barrie to Ontario – closed July 20 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the Princess Street Promenade. Please note the intersections of Princess at Barrie, Princess at Bagot and Princess at Ontario will remain open throughout the event.
- Sydenham Street – Princess to Queen – closed until Sept. 27 for Downtown Kingston BIA Activations.
- University Avenue – Union to Bader – closed July 22 at 7 a.m. to July 25 at 5 p.m. for construction related activity on University Ave.
- University Avenue – Union to Earl – closed until July 31 for the removal of debris from demolition and concrete deliveries at the Queen’s John Deutsch University Centre project.
Parking Disruption
The Hanson Memorial Parking Structure Restoration project is now underway. The work will take place throughout all levels of the building, and will include efforts such as routine structural maintenance, repainting, replacement of waterproofing materials, and upgrades to the building mechanical/electrical systems. The work is planned to begin the first week of February 2024 and conclude in late December 2024.
The work will be completed in phases to allow the building to remain open to public parking for the duration of the project. It is anticipated that no more than 50% of the available 271 parking spaces will be closed at any time. There is also parking availability at the Chown Memorial and Robert Bruce Memorial parking garages in the two adjacent blocks to the west.
Other Delays
- Aberdeen Street – Johnson to Earl – expect delays and closures along Aberdeen Street for a contractor to complete road and sewer reconstruction. For project details please visit Get Involved Kingston.
- Bath Road – Concession to Queen Mary – expect delays until July 22 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day to accommodate roadway crack rehabilitation.
- Bayridge Drive – Princess to Taylor Kidd – expect delays while a contractor begins Phase 2 of the Bayridge Dr Active Transportation Upgrades. For project details please visit Get Involved Kingston.
- Collins Bay Road – Prince Charles/Edwin to Princess – expect delays while a contractor completes Phase 2 of the Princess & Colins Bay Active Transportation Improvements. For project details please visit Get Involved Kingston.
- Gardiners Road – at Centennial/Creekford – expect delays while a contractor completes intersection widening, traffic signal upgrades and cycling and pedestrian improvements. For project details please visit Get Involved Kingston.
- Highway 2 – Abbey Dawn to St. Lawrence – expect a lane closure to complete enhanced flood protection of Abbey Dawn Road, Highway 2, and St. Lawrence Avenue. The lane closure will be controlled by a temporary traffic signal. For project details please visit Get Involved Kingston.
- Sir John A MacDonald Blvd – Union to Princess – expect delays until July 22 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day to accommodate roadway crack rehabilitation.
Expect Delays on the following roads from July 18 to 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day to accommodate Asphalt Reclamation:
- Princess Street – Division to Clergy
- John Counter Boulevard – Aberfoyle to Portsmouth
- Portsmouth Avenue – Old Quarry to John Counter
- Front Road – King to Sandy Bay
