Kingston Road Closures & Delays: May 24 to 31

Following is a list of road construction projects and events provided by the City of Kingston that are expected to have an impact on traffic flow next week:

LaSalle Causeway

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise users that the LaSalle Causeway is fully closed to motorists until further notice.

Pedestrians now have access to the LaSalle Causeway. Cyclists may also access the sidewalk by dismounting and walking their bicycles. Users may experience short delays in crossing the bridge and are requested to follow any signage on site during ongoing construction and repair work.

Road Closures

  • Earl Street – Division to Aberdeen – closed until May 27 at 7 p.m. for the disconnect of services and installation of new services on Earl St.
  • Hillcrest Avenue – Kingscourt to Seventh – closed until May 31 for buried infrastructure replacement. Road will be open to local traffic.
  • King Street – Place D’Armes to North End of King – closed until Sept. 30 for the construction of new storm and road bed. Road will be open to local traffic.
  • King Street – Place D’Armes to The Tragically Hip Way – closed May 26 at 7 a.m. to May 27 at 2 a.m. for Monster Spectacular at Slush Puppie Place.
  • Montreal Street – Princess to Queen – closed May 26, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the Montreal Street Vintage Market.
  • Sydenham Street – Princess to Queen – closed until Sept. 27 for Downtown Kingston BIA Activations.
  • University Avenue – Union to Earl – closed until May 29 for the removal of debris from demolition and concrete deliveries at the Queen’s John Deutsch University Centre project.

Other Delays

  • Gardiners Road at Centennial/Creekford – expect delays while a contractor completes intersection widening, traffic signal upgrades and cycling and pedestrian improvements.
  • Hudson Drive at Bayridge Public School – expect delays until Jun. 28 as a contractor will be on site to complete upgrades to the school crossing.
  • Hudson Drive at Hudson Park – expect delays until Jun. 28 as a contractor will be on site to complete upgrades to the bus stop and pedestrian crossing.

Parking Disruption

The Hanson Memorial Parking Structure Restoration project is underway. Activities include routine structural maintenance, repainting, replacement of waterproofing materials, and upgrades to the building mechanical/electrical systems. The work is planned conclude in late December.

It is anticipated that no more than 50% of the available 271 parking spaces will be closed at any time. There is also parking availability at the Chown Memorial and Robert Bruce Memorial parking garages in the two adjacent blocks to the west.
