Kingston Road Closures & Delays: April 28 to May 2

Following is a list of road construction projects and events provided by the City of Kingston that are expected to have an impact on traffic flow next week:

LaSalle Causeway

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise users that the LaSalle Causeway will be fully closed to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians until further notice.

Road Closures

  • Hillcrest Ave – Kingscourt to Seventh – closed until May 31 for buried infrastructure replacement. Road will be open to local traffic.
  • King Street – Place D’Armes to North End of King – closed until Sept. 30 for the construction of new storm and road bed. Road will be open to local traffic.
  • Seventh Ave – Alfred to Hillcrest – closed until May 4 for sanitary sewer system replacement. Road will be open to local traffic.
  • Tacoma Crescent – Hudson to Lincoln – closed Apr. 29 at 7 a.m. to May 1 at 5 p.m. for the installation of a sewer lateral.
  • University Avenue – Union to Earl – closed until May 29 for the removal of debris from demolition and concrete deliveries at the Queen’s John Deutsch University Centre project.

Parking Disruption

The Hanson Memorial Parking Structure Restoration project is now underway. The work will take place throughout all levels of the building, and will include efforts such as routine structural maintenance, repainting, replacement of waterproofing materials, and upgrades to the building mechanical/electrical systems. The work is planned to begin the first week of February 2024 and conclude in late December 2024.   

The work will be completed in phases to allow the building to remain open to public parking for the duration of the project. It is anticipated that no more than 50% of the available 271 parking spaces will be closed at any time. There is also parking availability at the Chown Memorial and Robert Bruce Memorial parking garages in the two adjacent blocks to the west. 

The Chown Memorial garage will be experiencing two full closures in the coming weeks to accommodate cleaning of the garage. If you require parking during this time Hanson Memorial garage is located at 105 Brock St. and should have ample space during these times.

May 7 at 6 p.m. to May 8 at 6 a.m. – Entry will be restricted after 3 p.m. on May 7 but vehicles in the lot will be permitted to leave (payment still required to exit).

Other Delays

  • Bayridge Drive – Woodbine to Cataraqui Woods – expect delays until Apr. 30 while contractors are completing construction restoration work in that area.
  • Princess Street –Bayridge to Collins Bay – expect delays until Apr. 30 while contractors are completing construction restoration work in that area.
  • Queen Street – Montreal to Sydenham – expect an east bound lane closure until May 15. Detours will be in place for the duration of the lane closure.
