Limestone City Blues Festival Announces 2015 Headliners

Published on: 2015/06/09 - in Releases

The 2015 Limestone City Blues Festival will once again bring Downtown Kingston alive with the sounds of the blues August 27th to the 30th.

Celebrating its 19th year, the festival is delighted to announce that Joe Louis Walker will be headlining the Springer Market Square Stage on Saturday, August 29th.

An electric blues guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer, NPR Music describes him as “Powerful, soul-stirring, fierce and gritty…a legendary boundary-pushing icon of modern blues.” Walker was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2013.

Opening the evening will be the reunited Kingston blues band, Blue Monday and multiple Maple Blues Awards winner, Canadian Steve Hill.

You’ve heard Philip Sayce, even if you haven’t heard of him. The Toronto guitarist has performed with likes of the late B.B. King and Jeff Healey and is touring in support of his new album, Influence.

Philip will be headlining the Princess Street stage on Friday, August 28th. Opening for him will be up-and-coming Toronto band, Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar.

The festival kicks off on Thursday, August 27th in Confederation Park with JW-Jones from Ottawa whose new album Belmont Boulevard has been receiving rave reviews. JW opened for the great Buddy Guy just last month and has had Dan Aykroyd say his group is “an amazing blues band.”

New this year is a ticketed VIP event showcasing JW in an intimate performance before he hits the main stage. Watch www.downtownkingston.ca for ticket details.

Once again, Limestone City Blues Festival promises to be a ‘not to be missed’ presentation of blues greatness.
