Starting Sunday December 1, 2013, parking is prohibited on all City streets from 1 to 7 a.m. The overnight winter parking bylaw ensures that cars are kept off the streets so that snow plows can effectively respond to winter weather events.
“Parked cars are an obstacle to safe and efficient weather response efforts. Our work is most effective when we are able to clear snow or put down salt and sand on Kingston roads from curb to curb,” says Kim Leonard, Manager, Licensing and Enforcement.
Car owners who contravene the bylaw, risk receiving a fine of up to $40, or possibly having their vehicle towed.
The parking prohibition remains in place until the end of March, 2014.
