Kingston Road Closures & Delays: March 29 to April 3

Following is a list of road construction projects and events provided by the City of Kingston that are expected to have an impact on traffic flow next week:

Traffic and pedestrian impacts this week:

Closures:

  • Frontenac Street – Jenkins to Princess – closed until June 27 to allow for framing, masonry and interior work for 501 Frontenac St.

Delays:

  • Grenadier Drive – at Windfield Crescent – expect delays while construction takes place around the Kingston East Community Centre site. A flagman will be on-site to direct traffic (see “Sidewalk” impact, below).
  • Highway 401 – at Highway 38/Gardiners Road – expect lane closures on the 401 until November 2020 and delays of up to 10 minutes nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the westbound 401. Ontario highway updates are offered by the Ministry of Transportation.
  • Jackson Mills Road – near the K&P Trail – reduced to one lane for roadside safety improvements but remains open in both directions.
  • St. Lawrence Avenue – expect delays through the end of April while crews construct the new elevated road surface.

Sidewalks:

  • Grenadier Drive – at Windfield Crescent – expect delays while construction takes place around the Kingston East Community Centre site. The sidewalk on the south side of Grenadier Drive may be restricted weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. A flagman will be on-site to direct traffic and assist pedestrians.

March-April:

Load restrictions in effect: until April 30, heavy trucks and loads are restricted on City roads, where posted. These restrictions help reduce damage to roads in the spring.
