Kingston Road Closures & Delays: November 3 to 8

Following is a list of road construction projects and events provided by the City of Kingston that are expected to have an impact on traffic flow next week:

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians: review the listing of streets and related messages below for travel information of interest to you.

Traffic and pedestrian impacts this week:

Closures:

* Frontenac Street – Jenkins to Princess – closed until Dec. 2 for construction of an apartment building at 501 Frontenac St.
* Kingscourt Avenue – First to Third – closed from 7 a.m. Nov. 4 until mid-December while a contractor installs a new water main and sanitary sewers on behalf of Utilities Kingston.
* Nelson Street – First to Third – closed until 7 p.m. on Dec. 23 for underground site-servicing work. Local traffic will be accommodated.

* Point St. Mark Drive – at Gore – The entrance/exit onto Point St. Mark Drive is closed until the end of the Third Crossing construction. Pedestrian access to the library and dog park remains open as does the sidewalk on the southeast side of Gore Road.
* Victoria Street – Princess to South Bartlett – closed until mid-November. See Victoria Street listing under “Delays section” for more details.

Delays:

* Bath Road (Westbound lanes) – from 275 metres east of Gardiners to just past Days – expect minor delays and lane restrictions while accessing businesses on the north side of Bath Road while a contractor completes work on behalf of Utilities Kingston to reline the local water main. Expect lane restrictions at the Bath Road and Days Road intersection.

* Bath Road Westbound at Days Road – Right lane closed while crews are working in the area.
* Days Road Northbound at Bath Road – Left lane onto Bath Road westbound reduced to one lane while crews are working in the area.

* Gardiners Road – Cataraqui Mall to Taylor Kidd – expect delays 7 a.m. on Nov. 5 to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 as a southbound lane on the west side of the road will be closed.
* Gibson and Oakridge avenues – expect delays while Utilities Kingston crews replace a water main in the area.
* Highway 401 – at Highway 38/Gardiners Road – expect lane closures on the 401 until November 2020 and delays of up to 10 minutes nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the westbound 401. A new carpool lot will open here Nov. 30, 2019. Ontario highway updates are offered by the Ministry of Transportation.

* Highway 15 – Highway 401 to 500m north of Burnt Hills – expect lane closures weekdays through November for culvert replacement and rehabilitation.
* Jackson Mills Road – Bur Brook Road to 400m south (near the K&P Trail) – reduced to one lane for roadside safety improvements. Both directions remain open.
* John Counter Boulevard – Princess to Indian – expect increased delays until the summer of 2021 while crews construct a new four-lane road and rail overpass. Using an alternate route is recommended. MOTORISTS: Don’t get stopped on the tracks! Ensure there is enough space on the opposite side before crossing.

* Johnson Street – Oakridge to Gibson – expect delays due to lane restrictions Oct. 27 to 31 while a water main is reconstructed.
* Johnson Street – Sydenham to Bagot – expect minor delays and lane restrictions while Utilities Kingston crews prepare to reline the local water main. Johnson Street will be reduced to a single lane when crews are working in the area.

* Old Mill Road – at John Counter – expect delays until late November to allow crews to build the new south-side lanes on John Counter.
* Princess Street – Portsmouth to east of Hillendale – Expect delays eastbound due to restrictions along the curbside lane until mid-November as Utilities Kingston crews replace poles and underground wire.

* Victoria Street – Princess to Concession – expect minor delays, lane restrictions and road closures (see above) throughout the fall while a contractor completes work on behalf of Utilities Kingston to replace sewers and water mains in the area. Drivers should also expect lane restrictions at the Princess/Victoria intersection.

Sidewalks and pedestrian pathways:

* Bath Road – 275m east Gardiners to Days – expect sections of the north sidewalk to be closed.
* Albert Street – Bader Lane to 136 m north – crews will be reconstructing the sidewalk until mid-November.
* Clarence Street – King to halfway to Wellington – the east-side sidewalk is closed to accommodate fencing for work to the roof of the British Whig Building.

* Concession – at Leroy Grant – crews are completing the reconstruction of the sidewalks and curb until mid-November.
* King Street – from Barrie to 70m east – crews will be reconstructing the sidewalk until mid-November.
* Lancaster Drive – at Limestone – crews will be making crosswalk improvements until mid-November.
* Lochinvar – Inverness East to Inverness West – crews are removing and replacing sidewalks until mid-November.
