The City of Kingston has posted the following schedule changes to municipal and utility services for the Labour Day holiday on Monday, September 2:
Garbage, Green Bin and recycling: No collection Monday and collection moves to the day after your normal pick-up day for the rest of the week. Sign-up to be reminded what to put out when at CityofKingston.ca/Collection. The Kingston Area Recycling Centre is also closed Monday.
PLEASE NOTE: you may put out two-untagged bags or containers of garbage for the first collection after Labour Day (starting Tuesday, Sept. 3).
Kingston Transit: Buses run on a Sunday schedule on Monday – except for the Route 18 which will run on its regular weekday schedule. Plan your bus trip with Google Transit: kingstontransit.ca/tripplanner.
Kingston Access Services: Operates with limited service Monday. Call 613-542-2512.
Administrative offices: All administrative offices, including housing and social services and provincial offences are closed Monday.
Utilities Kingston and Kingston Hydro: Closed Monday. In the event of a utility emergency, such as a gas smell, power outage or a water main break, call the Utilities Kingston 24-hour number at 613-546-1181. Hydro One electricity customers in the west and east ends can call 1-800-434-1235. Union Gas customers can call 1-877-969-0999. Remember: for electricity used on weekends and holidays, electricity prices are off-peak.
Outdoor Aqua Park, splash pads and wading pool: Open Monday. Labour Day is the last day of the summer schedule at Outdoor Aqua Park (see the September schedule at CityofKingston.ca/WaterPark. Splash pads are open until Sept. 22. The McBurney Park Wading Pool closes for the season at 4 p.m. on Sept. 2.
INVISTA Centre/ Fitness & Wellness Centre, Artillery Park Aquatic Centre, Rideau Heights Community Centre and arenas: Closed Monday. NOTE: Artillery Park Aquatic Centre is closed for seasonal maintenance from Sept. 3 to 15. The front desk will remain open weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during this time.
CaraCo Home Field: Closed Monday.
Libraries: All branches of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library are closed Monday.
Tett Centre: Closed Monday.
Confederation Basin and Portsmouth Olympic Harbour marinas: The Confederation Basin Marina office is open. The fueling stations are open at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, but the office will be closed Monday.
Grand Theatre Box Office: Closed Monday.
City Hall National Historic Site: Closed Monday. City Hall tours move to a fall scheduled starting Sept. 3.
MacLachlan Woodworking Museum and PumpHouse Museum: Closed. Sunday, Sept. 1 is the last day of the MacLachclan Woodworking Museum’s regular operating season (it will open for planned activities, see WoodworkingMuseum.ca. The PumpHouse Museum moves to fall/winter hours on Sept. 3.
