The city has announced that work to improve soccer fields in Kingston has already started, and will continue throughout the fall and into the 2011 soccer season.
In total, $1.5 million worth of upgrades will be made to current soccer fields to provide an improved playing surface.
Additionally, the following outdoor-sports projects are scheduled to be finished and ready for games in 2012:
– two new international-sized fields and a future field house are planned for John Machin Park;
– a new track and field complex with artificial turf at the INVISTA Centre; and
– the conversion of a natural field to artificial turf at Caton’s field.
This soccer field maintenance will improve grading, drainage and soil conditioning to ensure consistent serviceability under a variety of use and weather conditions.
