Kingston Transit has announced that it is upgrading its customers to Transit Royale, a subscription service that provides additional features and customization options within the Transit app. Starting immediately, customers will have access to the Royale subscription, which includes real-time public transit data, trip planning, and cycling directions.

According to Christopher Norris, General Manager of Transit, “We are very excited to offer Transit’s Royale subscription to all of our riders. The added features of the Royale subscription will make it easier for customers to plan their commute and to monitor real-time travel information for all our routes.”

The Transit app, which provides public transit data for over 300 cities worldwide, has partnered with Kingston Transit to offer the Royale subscription free of charge. This partnership allows riders to access power features such as customizable themes, personalized emojis, and leaderboards for users competing to help the most riders with Transit’s GO crowdsourcing feature.

Sam Vermette, CEO of Transit, stated, “By providing free Royale subscriptions to everyone who rides, our partners at Kingston Transit are working hand-in-hand with our team to unlock the best app experience for riders. As we launch Royale, I’m especially proud of how far we’ve come together.”

The partnership also allows riders to switch the app icon and theme to match Kingston Transit’s branding, offering a locally-branded mobile app experience. Kingston Transit has joined other transit systems across the country in offering the Royale subscription to its riders, with more agencies planning to make similar announcements in the coming months.
