The City reports that two new intersection pedestrian signals have been activated today, saying that the installation at the school crossings will make it safer for children walking to/from school and provide a protected pedestrian crossing for all users when the school crossing guard is not present.
The pedestrian signals are located at Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard at Norman Rogers Drive [map] and Johnson Street at Macdonnell Street, a school guard crossing. [map]
Contractors will remain to complete curb work and asphalt restoration in the area of Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard at Norman Rogers Drive. A temporary orange barrels will be placed on Sir John A Macdonald Boulevard until this work is completed to ensure, according to the City, that ‘vehicles entering from Brock Street will be forced to slow down and merge well in advance of the new pedestrian signal’.
