Family and Children’s Services report more donations of money are urgently needed for this year’s Tree of Hope Campaign.
Although getting closer to its goal, only $30,000 of the hoped-for $40,000 total has been donated to the organizations’s annual holiday appeal with the campaign set to end on December 18.
“The Tree of Hope uses the money to buy things kids need, pay for the campaign and fund enrichment activities all year round, like summer camp in July and August,” said Family and Children’s Services in a release. “For example, the campaign recently purchased a kids bunk bed for a family in need. It also paid $5,000 in October for coats, boots and toques for kids who didn’t have Winter clothing.”
The agency has been raising money during the holiday season to help the families it serves almost since it started in 1894. The campaign will be providing toys, clothing, personal items, baby gear and more to approximately 700 local kids.
