Kingston’s The Tragically Hip has donated more than $40,000 (and counting) from the sale of their “Courage Masks” to Unison Benevolent Fund’s Financial Assistance program, according to an announcement issued today. The organization is Canada’s leading music industry charity, providing counselling and emergency relief services to the country’s music community.
“We want to thank to all of you who have bought Courage masks to support the Unison Benevolent Fund. With your help, we have raised over $40,000 so far to provide ongoing emergency financial relief for musicians and crew members during the COVID pandemic,” said The Tragically Hip. “Until we are through this, please continue to follow the guidance of public health officials. Stay safe, wear a mask and continue to support the Unison Benevolent Fund.”
Unison expressed its appreciation to The Hip for its generous donation and to all donors, saying “No donation is too small; any amount will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way towards helping Unison care for the Canadian music community during this difficult and rapidly changing situation.”
The Hip’s reusable non-medical cloth “Courage Masks” are still available for purchase for $15.
