Talking Café: A Space to Combat Isolation and Foster Friendships

Published on: 2024/01/16 - in News

Compassionate Communities Kingston and Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL) have launched the Talking Café, an initiative aimed at mitigating social isolation and fostering friendships among adults and seniors. This program provides a space for individuals to engage in casual, light-hearted conversations under the guidance of a facilitator.

According to Jake Miller, Librarian for Adult Programming, “Compassionate Communities and KFPL recognize the importance of creating and maintaining friendships in adult life, a truth confirmed by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Talking Café is a great opportunity to connect with people you may not otherwise meet. This will be a fun, casual opportunity to expand your social circle and build new connections!”

The Talking Café is set to offer a platform for enhancing mental well-being and strengthening community bonds. The inaugural session is scheduled for January 22, from 3-4 p.m. at the Calvin Park Branch.

Interested individuals are encouraged to register for the event online.
