South Frontenac will host its “Touch the Truck” event on May 7, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Point Park in Sydenham, with a rain date of May 8. Organized in conjunction with Emergency Preparedness Week, the event will offer residents the opportunity to explore emergency and service vehicles and receive safety information from public and emergency service providers.

Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with a range of vehicles, including firetrucks, ambulances, police cruisers, and utility trucks. Children will be able to climb onto the equipment and meet personnel who provide essential services to the community.

“This event is a great way to promote preparing for an emergency in a fun, interactive environment,” said Mayor Ron Vandewal. “It’s also a fantastic opportunity for families to connect with the people who serve and protect South Frontenac every day. This is a vital showcase put on by our Public Services Department.”

A cash barbecue will be available, with proceeds supporting New Leaf Link and its community programs. The event will also include a “Stuff the Truck” food drive in support of Southern Frontenac Community Services. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for donation.

The Utilities Kingston Water Buggy will be present to provide drinking water, and families are advised to bring refillable water bottles.

Parking will be available at Loughborough Public School and Sydenham High School. Families may walk to the park or use the free shuttle bus service provided.
