The Township of South Frontenac has commenced preparations for its 2025 budget and is inviting residents to participate in a brief survey to provide their input. The survey will remain open until October 4, 2024.
Arundhati Mohile, Director of Corporate Services and Treasurer, said, “We want to hear what the people in our growing community have to say about our services and what they feel will impact our community the most.”
The survey will query residents on their preferences regarding tax rates and services. Specifically, respondents will be asked whether they favor a reasonable tax increase to enhance services, a tax increase sufficient to maintain current services, or a reduction in services to maintain or lower the current tax rate.
Last year’s budget resulted in a 2.74% tax increase, translating to an average household increase of $47.04 per year. This year’s survey also gathers demographic information, including household size and age distribution, to provide insight into the needs of various community segments.
Mayor Ron Vandewal underscored the significance of resident participation, saying, “We need residents to weigh in on what is important to them. The results from this survey will help us understand what our key priorities should be and how to shape our community for the future.”
Residents can learn more and sign up to receive updates on this year’s budget process on the EngageFrontenac.ca project page. If you have questions about the survey or the budget process, email communications@southfrontenac.net.
