The administrative building at the Kingston Area Recycling Centre, located at 196 Lappan’s Lane, will permanently close to the public on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The final day of service inside the building will be Monday, Sept. 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Although the office will close, residents will continue to have access to a range of services at the site through the end of 2025. Green bins, kitchen catchers, and fat, oil and grease (FOG) cups will remain available for pickup at an outdoor tent set up on the property. The tent will also accommodate recycling drop-offs, including batteries and lightbulbs. Officials have confirmed there will be no interruption in service or operating hours.
Garbage bag tags will no longer be sold at the Lappan’s Lane location after Sept. 30. A full list of retailers selling bag tags is available on the City of Kingston’s website.
Other services at the site remain unchanged. Yard waste and recycling drop-off will continue to operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The household hazardous waste facility, open seasonally from April through November, will remain available on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
