The City is reminding property-owners that they should now have received their final property tax bill which should be paid by August 31, 2020.
The final property tax deadline, normally due on June 30, had been deferred until August to help alleviate some of the financial pressure caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also encouraged by the City is to use payment options that to avoid requiring payees to line up at the City Hall Payment Centre, which can be found indicated on your bill and online at CityofKingston.ca/Tax.
“Property taxes are an important source of revenue for a city and allow for the delivery of essential services,” states a City media release. “If you plan to pay at City Hall, please wear a face covering and be prepared to maintain physical distance.”
Property owners who did not receive a property tax bill should request it by calling 613- 546-0000 between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, since failing to your bill does not excuse you from payment or from penalties for late payment.
Small business property owners should note that you may apply to further defer your property tax payments through the Small Business Property Tax Deferral Program using the online form.
