Kingston Transit Introduces Online Portal for Bus Pass Renewals

Published on: 2023/11/16 - in News

Kingston Transit has launched a new online portal for renewing bus passes, offering real-time updates for most of its reloadable passes. To commemorate the portal’s launch, the first ten users to renew their pass online will receive a free month of transit rides.

Accessible at My.KingstonTransit.ca, the portal allows riders to renew monthly or weekly passes and add funds to multi-ride cards. Users must enter their bus pass number, personal information, and credit card details to complete the process.

Ian Semple, Director of Transit and Transportation, commented on the portal’s efficiency. “This new portal will make it much easier for riders to update their monthly bus passes but is also a brand-new way for riders to be able to add funds to an existing multi-ride bus pass,” he said. Semple noted that the previous system was limited to monthly pass renewals and took up to 48 hours, while the new portal offers instant renewal for various pass types.

The portal also supports the management of multiple cards, facilitating the addition of funds to youth or senior cards by a parent or guardian. Additionally, an auto-renewal feature is available to keep bus passes current.

The introduction of the online portal does not eliminate the option to renew passes in person at the city’s retail locations. It should be noted that the portal is solely for updating existing physical bus passes, and new passes must be acquired in person at the City Hall Payment Centre, 216 Ontario Street, or the Cataraqui Centre Guest Services Desk, 945 Gardiners Rd.
