A new post-secondary student pass for the fall semester will be offered by Kingston Transit in collaboration with The Alma Mater Society of Queen’s University and The Student Association of St. Lawrence College.
Beginning Monday, August 24, eligible students who attend either of the post-secondary institutions can purchase the pass – which is available for $119 and valid from September 1, 2020 to January 3, 2021 – online at KingstonTransit.ca/Students.
“We are pleased to provide students with an affordable pass option for the coming semester. Students account for about 40 per cent of our ridership and we want to ensure they continue to get where they are going by bus this fall.” said Jeremy DaCosta, Director, Transit Services.
As a result of the uncertainty related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City, The Alma Mater Society of Queen’s University, and The Student Association of St. Lawrence College jointly terminated their respective agreements that previously allowed for universal, unlimited Kingston Transit ridership to all students .
“We value our continued partnership with the City and are eager to offer students safe and accessible transit through this temporary semester pass option,” said Alexandra Samoyloff, Vice President of Operations, Alma Mater Society of Queen’s University, in a media release.
In that same release, Elle McFeeters, President, Student Association of St. Lawrence College, likewise acknowledged that its students make great use of Kingston Transit and will appreciate the flexibility for the coming semester.
