Help Name a City of Kingston Plow

Published on: 2023/11/01 - in News

Kingston’s Public Works department has issued a playful challenge to its residents: to christen one of the City’s snowplows with an imaginative and local-specific name.

Running through Nov. 15 at 4 p.m., community members are invited to propose their most distinctive and Kingston-relevant names on the Get Involved Kingston platform. The City, after sifting through submissions, will curate a shortlist of potential names. Subsequently, from Nov. 22 to Nov. 29, the broader community will have the chance to cast their vote for their preferred snowplow designation on the same platform. The selected name is set to be unveiled on Dec. 11.

While the naming opportunity is a lighthearted affair, snowplowing in Kingston is no joke. Throughout the winter season, the City clears more than 1,800km of road lanes and an additional 600km of sidewalks. More information can be found at CityofKingston.ca/Snow.
