Bettina Mueller, a healthcare industry worker from Kingston, has won $1 million in the March 27, 2024 LOTTO 6/49 draw. She matched all seven ENCORE numbers in exact order to secure her prize.

A regular lottery player for the past six months, Bettina typically plays LOTTO 6/49 and always adds ENCORE. “I always add ENCORE,” she said.

When checking her ticket at a store with a friend, Bettina was initially confused when she saw all the zeros. “My friend said, ‘I think you won big,’ but I thought there was no way,” she recalled while collecting her winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

After the lottery terminal shutdown, Bettina was in shock. “When I saw I had won a million dollars, it felt unreal. I started shaking and I haven’t stopped!” she laughed. “I have dreamt of winning, but never thought it would happen. I am so thankful!”

Bettina plans to use her winnings to buy a home and adopt a dog. “This win allows me to buy a home and I plan to adopt a dog. I am excited for this next chapter of my life,” she said.

ENCORE, a supplementary game offered by the lottery, provides 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an additional $1. ENCORE draws take place daily.

The winning ticket was purchased at Lovell Drugs Medical Arts Pharmacy on Princess Street in Kingston.
