Local Lottery Prize Winnings Jumped Over 50% in 2018

Prize money won from lottery tickets purchased in the Kingston region jumped dramatically in 2018 over the previous year, according to details provided by the OLG.

While there were no tickets sold locally in 2017 that won a million dollars or more, there were three million dollar tickets and one ticket worth $3.5 million purchased in Kingston last year.

All told, winnings increased more than 50% for tickets bought in Frontenac County last year, with $23,587,463 in prizing awarded compared to $15,041,737 in prize winnings for 2017. There were 33 tickets worth between $10K to $999k sold in the county in 2018 – 14 more than the year before.

This prizing data is based on where winning tickets were sold, not where the winner resides, but generally most people purchase tickets near where they live. The above totals include all prizes – even $2 winnings – and for all lottery games, including national games like LOTTO MAX and 6/49 and Regional games that include LOTTARIO and PICK 4, INSTANT games and Sports like PRO-LINE.

It’s also worth noting that one of the locally sold winning tickets worth $297,615.70 has still not been claimed as of earlier this month. So take another look to see if you have any unchecked tickets for the September 21st LOTTOMAX draw!

Tonight’s LOTTOMAX prize (Jan. 11) is an estimated $18,000,000 and Saturday’s LOTTO 6/49 (Jan. 12) is worth an estimated 9,000,000 plus one guaranteed $1 million prize.
