Kingston’s Livable City Design Awards has officially opened its voting for the People’s Choice Award, allowing the public to select which urban design project they believe best enhanced Kingston’s image. Voting remains open through Oct. 27, 2023.
Those wishing to participate can cast their votes on the People’s Choice webpage, where details of each entrant project are listed.
The awards, meant to honor projects that exemplify outstanding urban design and architecture, accept a variety of nominations, from large-scale buildings and private homes to heritage restorations and environmentally-conscious designs such as a bioswale planted with local species.
Notably, this is the first time the awards are being held since 2017. Scheduled as a triennial event, the 2020 iteration was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To compensate for this break, the 2023 awards have expanded their eligibility to include projects from the past six years.
Besides the People’s Choice Award, other distinctions such as the Awards of Excellence and Merit will be given, with winners selected by an external jury.
An awards ceremony is scheduled for later this year, with more details forthcoming.
