South Frontenac Township is calling on lake associations and other not-for-profit community organizations to submit their applications for the 2023 Lake Ecosystem Grants. The grants aim to support initiatives that contribute to the preservation and improvement of lake health. The application deadline is set for Friday, August 4, 2023.

The Lake Ecosystem Grant Program has been specifically designed to provide financial assistance to projects that focus on activities such as the conservation, restoration, monitoring, and analysis of lake ecosystems within the South Frontenac area.

Under this program, projects can receive funding of up to $10,000. The grants are intended for initiatives that address issues like the reduction or prevention of runoff resulting from human activities, the creation or expansion of shoreline buffer zones, the protection or enhancement of wildlife habitats, or the facilitation of lake environment monitoring and data collection.

Community groups interested in applying for the Lake Ecosystem Grant can access the application form online.

For any inquiries or further information regarding the Lake Ecosystem Grant program, interested parties are encouraged to reach out to Christine Woods, Senior Planner, with questions or concerns related to the grant application process at 613-376-3027 ext. 2221, or via email.

This grant opportunity serves as a significant step forward in safeguarding the ecological balance of South Frontenac’s lakes. By supporting projects aimed at mitigating human impact, enhancing natural habitats, and monitoring the well-being of lake environments, the township aims to ensure the long-term health and sustainability of these valuable ecosystems.
