Public Invited To Tour Kingston’s Water Conservation Garden

Utilities Kingston is offering public tours of its Water Conservation Garden, showcasing sustainable gardening, at 1211 John Counter Boulevard.

Maarten Lubber of Utilities Kingston will demonstrate there how to grow a sustainable garden requiring less water and how to garden in a way that protects local watersheds.

Lubbers will be holding his 15-minute tour weekdays at 10:30 a.m. from now until September 2. Alternate tour times can be requested by emailing him at mlubbers@utilitieskingston.com or calling 613-546-1181, ext. 2509.

This Saturday, July 23, Hearthmakers Energy Cooperative will be at the Water Conservation Garden hosting a free “How to Build a Rain Garden” workshop to demonstrate the concept of rain gardens and their importance to storm water management. Visitors will get hands on experience planting native plants in the Hearthmakers Demonstration Rain Garden.

Kingston’s Water Conservation Garden has been nominated for both the Livable City Design Award and Communities in Bloom.
