The Airport Council International – North America (ACI-NA) 2010 Excellence in Marketing and Communications contest results were recently released in the organization’s “Centrelines” Weekly publication.
The issue reported that first place in the print advertising category has been awarded to Kingston Airport’s “from here to anywhere” promotional print materials.
Designed for the City by BmDodo Strategic Design’s Brian Dodo, the materials won in a category contested by 55 airports internationally. Over 250 submissions were made for all 17 categories covered by the ACI-NAs Excellence in Marketing and Communications contest.
Commenting on the win, Airport Manager David Snow said “We’ve been extremely happy with our beautiful new logo and ads. This kind of recognition demonstrates that good design effectively augments our reputation within the industry while promoting our services. Hats off to Brian Dodo.”
Mr. Snow also noted that a wide variety of local print media including the Kingston Whig-Standard, Profile Kingston, Kingston Publications and Queen’s Gazette had all displayed the Kingston Airport advertisements.
Brian Dodo summed it up by saying “We are extremely happy. We didn’t design for awards, we designed for the purposes of the airport, but it’s always nice to be recognized.”
Aeroports de Montreal was announced the runner-up, while Denver and Louisville International Airports tied for 3rd place.
More than 76,000 passengers had been served by Kingston Airport in 2009 with flights connecting to every major continent on the planet.
