Kingston Resident Celebrates $100,000 ENCORE Win

Kingston resident Martin Brule has won $100,000 after matching the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the August 20, 2024 LOTTO MAX draw.

Brule, who works in technology, has been a regular lottery player with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for five years. He typically participates in LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49, and LOTTARIO, using the OLG’s Quick Pick feature to select his numbers. Consistently adding ENCORE to his tickets, Brule’s persistence led to his first significant lottery win.

Brule described the moment he discovered his win while checking his tickets using the OLG app. “It was morning when I checked my tickets using the OLG app. I saw the ‘Big Winner’ screen and thought, ‘Oh cool! I won $100!’ Then, I noticed the comma and the zeros that followed. I had to wonder if this was a mistake, but I was looking at the proof right there on my phone,” he said.

Following the discovery, Brule contacted his parents to share the news. “I asked them how I would cash in a $100,000 winning ticket. It was a pretty excited phone call.”

Brule expressed disbelief in the days that followed. “I experienced a period of shock for a few days. It was hard to believe! I played the lottery wishing for a win and I think I manifested it by putting the intention out there,” he remarked.

Brule intends to use his winnings to make more time for his hobbies and complete home renovations. “I may even treat myself to a little shopping spree,” he added.

ENCORE, which offers 22 ways to win, can be played alongside most lottery games for an additional $1, with two draws held daily.

Brule’s winning ticket was purchased at East Side Market on Division Street in Kingston.
